Lighting Technology (7S880)

Q2 | 5 ECTS

The aim of this course is to provide a fundamental scientific basis for “Lighting Technology”. In addition to the in-depth introduction of photometric, radiometric and colorimetric quantities and measurements, the course will concentrate on indoor lighting by means of daylight utilization, electric lighting, and lighting controls. Students will get acquainted with the theory and will learn the evaluation and design of indoor lighting design in practical assignments consisting of field measurements and computer simulations.

Capita Selecta Lighting Technology (7LL7M0)

Q3 | 5 ECTS

The aim of this course is to provide an in-depth understanding on selected relevant topics in lighting technology. In addition to inspiring guest lectures (from industry and academia), the students will work on two individual assignments. The first one is to research a lighting topic by performing a systematic literature search with the aim of generating a set of materials on a coherent subject. The second one is to apply the obtained knowledge into programming tools. The course provides both scientific lectures as well as individual and independent research on a scientific topic.

Masterproject BPS Research (7LS1M0)

Q1-Q2 or Q3-Q4 | 10 ECTS

In the Masterproject BPS A research you choose a topic in one of the BPS main research areas: Building Acoustics, Building Lighting, Building Materials, Building Performance, Building Physics or Building Services and join a BPS group as part of an existing research program or to or realize your own ideas. Elements of the Masterproject can be performing measurements in the laboratory or on site, use of simulation software or carrying out surveys.

Masterproject BPS Design (7LS0M0)

Q1-Q2 or Q3-Q4 | 10 ECTS

Design research on physical aspects on the level of environment, buildings, rooms, constructions, materials or HVAC systems. The building physical aspects are acoustics, light, heat, air and moisture. Elements of the design research may be performing measurements in the laboratory or in situ, use of building physical simulation programs, writing a design research or advice report or publication. The results may be a contribution to existing design research programs, e.g. PhD research or advisory or consultancy research studies for others.

Graduation project Building Physics and Services (7S45M0)

3 quartiles | 45 ECTS

The graduation project is the final task before obtaining your masters degree. It is structured very similar to the master project. That means you choose a topic in one of the BPS main research areas: Building Acoustics, Building Lighting, Building Materials, Building Performance, Building Physics or Building Services based on your interests. You then join the BPS group as part of an existing research program or to or realize your own ideas. Elements of the graduation project can be performing measurements in the laboratory or on site, use of simulation software or carrying out surveys.
